BSC Conference 2019

Dates and theme announced



Members of the BSC Historical Criminology Network look forward to meeting at the annual conference of the British Society of Criminology, which in 2019 will be held from the 2nd to the 5th of July at the University of Lincoln. This year the theme will be ‘Public Criminologies: Communities, Conflict and Justice’. More information can be found on the BSC website’s conference page here.


The call for abstracts opens on 7th of January 2019 when our blog will publish a reminder. The deadline for abstracts is 17th of May 2019. Feel free to comment below if you are planning a panel and looking for participants.

    I'm really pleased that the BSC Conference is being held in Lincoln this year, not least because it will be a great opportunity to visit Lincoln Castle Prison which retains its Separate System Chapel. https://www.lincolncastle.com/content/victorian-prison

    I wonder if any Historical Criminologists whose research has taken in this Victorian prison would be interested in giving a tour? I've visited the prison before but would appreciate, as I'm sure others would, hearing about research 'on-location'. What do you think? I'd be happy to help organise something like this so please get in touch or comment here.
